Is this in the game? I just downloaded the remastered trilogy for XBone and so far it's weird and anachronistic enough at times that this wouldn't surprise me at all.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-01-10

No, it's not. There's a lot of other weird unpredictable shit in the game that no unspoiled person would see coming, but not this.

Also, you should play it all the way through. It's a great game, despite how cool and popular it is to shit all over it these days.

infinite zest - 2017-01-10

Yeah I figure I'm about halfway through the first one. It's fun to tell people (especially my parents, who loathe Rand,) that I'm playing an Ayn Rand Video Game. The very concept falls somewhere between a Heidegger and Murakami Video Game in terms of "how" and "why."

Gmork - 2017-01-10

Bioshock infinite is okay... mostly eye candy. Bioshock 1 and 2 are horrible let-downs based on the initial E3 trailer.

Nominal - 2017-01-10

Unpredictable shit that no one can see coming? You mean how the old man villain, who has the exact same background as the main character, could possibly know all about the main character in a game that introduces alternate dimensions and time travel in the first hour?

The game blew. They watered everything to Call of Duty gun play. The story? Turns out the writers suck when they aren't cribbing Ayn Rand. Someone here put it perfectly: "We were promised a satire of American exceptionalism and racism. What we got was someone's Doctor Who fanfic."

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2017-01-10

Bioshock was okish. Infinite is bafflingly bad. They have nothing in common with System shock 1 or 2 imo (really good games!)

Bioshock is to System shock as the prequels are to star wars.

Gmork - 2017-01-10

CoD gets shit on a lot, but the gunplay is pretty tight. The engine is great.

What would YOU hold up as the pinnacle of gunplay, Nominal? I'm curious.

SolRo - 2017-01-10

There is nothing to criticize about CoD.

It is -the- perfect gun-nut-military-worship-fan-wank-hero-fantasy game

Gmork - 2017-01-11

Most people play it because it's fun, very few have this weird "gun nut" angle on it that you seem to think. That would be ARMA that actually attracts the gun-nut military wankfest blah blah blah demographic.

infinite zest - 2017-01-11

I just torrent CoD games and delete them usually before I'm done with the first level; I just like to benchmark my MSI once in a while. I guess saying you're a gun-nut for liking one game and an otherwise-unemployable Comp Lit TA for liking the other, even though the gameplay itself is similar (even Battlefield Games feel like CoD feel like Doom 4.0 feel like TF2) it's more the story for me and the atmosphere; I felt the same way about FFXV, which had shitty PS1-generation "gameplay.." On a side note I haven't even checked to see if multiplayer is an option on any of the trilogy, because I don't care about that aspect personally, and if I want to be online I'm probably playing TF2 or CSGO. Or here of course.

Gmork - 2017-01-11

(even Battlefield Games feel like CoD feel like Doom 4.0 feel like TF2)

No, no, no, no, no.

infinite zest - 2017-01-12

Gmork I meant to me, FPSes are all the same, just like most L2R sidescrollers I played back in the day. I'm not what you'd call a gamer-gamer and my favorite game right now is Firewatch, so take my g@/\/R opinion with whatever amount of salt you want. :)

Gmork - 2017-01-12

I see. You just happen to be talking to an Engine Snob :)

cognitivedissonance - 2017-01-11

The visuals are great. The actual game is not.

It's the "Jupiter Ascending" of video games.

infinite zest - 2017-01-11

If it's 'Jupiter Ascending' then you can call me Nancy!

(was I the only one who actually liked all of Jupiter Ascending?)

StanleyPain - 2017-01-11

Bioshock Infinite reminded me of the NES era when devs would try to take high-concepts and turn them into games, but since they couldn't be bothered to make anything other than platformers, virtually everything was a platformer.

Infinite was like this really interesting setting/story and rather than evolve the Bioshock gameplay a little in a way that made more narrative sense, they were just like "Nah, just make it a boring FPS with 'monsters in closets' syndrome."

Maggot Brain - 2017-01-11

Bioshock Infinite gave me motion sickness. This song just made me angry.
