Well OF COURSE Romney is going to support the GOP sgenda, but is he going to support Trump? Romney was a never-trumper from the beginning, and he's got six years before he's going to have to run again. Trump has two.

The singnificance is completely obvious. Romney was a Republican running for office against a President who had the support of the Republican base.

Now he's NOT going to be running for office for another six years, and he appears to be changing his tune.

Politics, like lawyering, is a necessary profession that thrives on insincerity. It's not impossible that when Romney was sniffing around Trump hoping for a cabinet position, a concern for American democracy was involved somehow, but I'm not making that argument, nor would I.
