The more surface area something has the more flavourful it will be.. As there is more surface area to contact your tastebuds.

(Eg. thats why chefs often pour stuff from really high, to let air enter the mixture, air bubbles basically = more surface area)

So a chunky shape is actually a *bad* shape for flavour.
