Well, I know what I'm reposting everywhere I can today.

Apparently the Trump Campaign filed a lawsuit to try and stop this from airing on television stations.

How DARE they remind him of things he's said!

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2020-03-28

They were arguing that the way this thing is cut makes it seem that Trump flat-out said that the coronavirus was a hoax, which is to say fake, rather than just another Democratic strategy to get him out of office, which seems to be his own personal definition of the word. Yo The soundbytes are cut up, so he might have a point, maybe and sorta, but if you concede that, the rest of it's enormously damning.

Old_Zircon - 2020-03-28

Even in context (him saying that people accusing him of not being prepared was a "hoax") it's only slightly less bad.

Diligence - 2020-03-29

Snopes confirmed, not only did the Trump campaign threaten to sue, they threatened that stations would lose their licenses. That kind of abuse of power would have been big news before America just got used to it.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-03-29

Nope. I looked it up. There's only one definition for "hoax". Therefore, there is no context in which "hoax" means anything other than "a malicious or humorous deception".

Watching MAGAGAs trying to repeat this incomprehensible defense is pretty entertaining. They don't know what it means, either. Yes, that's the word he used, and yes, that's what the word means... But that doesn't mean he said it!

Let's face it, to believe anything Trump says is to take him "out of context."

They've updated the ad and titled it "One Week Later"

Christ this is week. They were handed so much rope to hang this dangerous clown with, and THIS was the best they could do? A black screen with cut up audio done in windows media recorder?

All they had to do, ALL they had to do, was air the one clip of him responding to firing the entire pandemic response team.

"And rather than spending the money—I’m a business person. I don’t like having thousands of people around when you don’t need them. When we need them, we can get them back very quickly.”

That's IT. And instead they went with this sub-Loose Change production. Charlie fucking Brown doesn't fumble the ball that badly.

also weak: my spelling

I'll give it five stars exclusively for the all-too-rare correct use of "exponentially". As a mathy person it really annoys me when people use it to mean "a lot" as opposed to "the growth rate is proportional to the total".
