There's a lot to unpack in this, but the first thing I want to address is toward the end, the segment Amber calls "one time". For white folks like me, if you've never done this before, and I may be the last, try to imagine what its like to process the experience of hearing about another non-threatening black person killed though the filter of being hassled by police which is something that happens to every black person. There 's a black member of congress, a Republican, who has been hassled by cops. It would feel personal.

Meerkat - 2021-01-16 It isn't just in the US either. Even in Canada, where we pretend not to be racist against blacks while being fully racist against first nations people. My sister in law is from Jamaica and she has many new tales of racism to share at every family dinner.
Growing up being picked on by other kids for my intelligence seems pretty mild in comparison to the shit she puts up with on a daily basis from "adults".

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2021-01-21 There are times when I feel judged or misunderstood, because I'm a white male boomer... and I don't like that. But white guys who bitch about the injustice of being a white man in a white man's world are just being assholes. Suck it up, buttercup.
And sometimes I just don't get it. Which isn't really my fault. You don't come out of your mother understanding YOURSELF, much less other people.
This probably won't surprise anyone, but when I've gotten into an argument about feminism with a woman, I've turned out to be wrong about fifty percent of the time. Maybe even fifty-ONE percent of the time!

White people and black people see racism differently
White folks see racism as a question of character, whether you're a good bad person.
Black people see racism as a matter of JUSTICE
See how this fucks things up?
If a black person seeks JUSTICE, the response is "why are you calling me a bad person?"
