All I really know about the Joe Rogan Experience is that he said something incredibly dumb on a recent show about how "woke culture" is going to make it so that "eventually" straight, white men won't be allowed to speak. This dumb line got posted on Reddit, where I made a simple comment that it was a dumb thing to say, and also a good example of an unsupported slippery-slope argument.
Well.
Within twenty minutes, I had over a hundred bloodthirsty responses, and for the next 48 hours I suffered the highest degree of social media engagement I've ever experienced. Don't you know men are being muscled out of business, academia, and entertainment? Don't you know there's a war of syntax being waged against the straight man? Don't you know you're a fucking retard for doubting Joe's totally plausible prophecy about that most endangered of social classes, the straight white male? Don't you know that this exact thing is already happening in San Francisco, in New York, in Paris? They came at me in droves. They spam-reported me to Reddit's suicide hotline. I didn't even know Reddit had a messenger system, but suddenly I was being told in private messages to research who was "really" pulling the strings in society, because it certainly wasn't the helpless straight, white male. I was advised to start my quest for the truth by wiki'ing the early lives of famous Hollywood producers: what do they all seem to have in common?
I know you shouldn't judge a thing by its fanbase, even less so its fanbase on Reddit, but jesus christ. Rogan seems to have a major appeal to hostile young men hungry for clanship.
