How soon is now?

I was hoping the whole thing would be an antenna control sim. :(

>>>John if as much of my own comfort and security depended on the magnanimity of government as your does I would probably be even more critical of Democrats, they are literally dooming you to Republican majorities and material harm with their dithering and lies

It occurs to me that I've never had a Republican do such a good job of denigrating me for being a disabled person who needs help. Weird, huh?

Here is a standalone download for all episodes.
Just download and run bat file for episode 1 or 2, couldnt be simpler.

I really liked this game. It feels a bit like stalker, it has enormous levels all connected to a hub so its kinda open world + loads of hidden stuff to discover on ure own.
There are awesome upgrades to your weapons and gear for you to find and discover on your own also.
Good music also, Got a John Carpenter vibe from some of it.

Also cus its based on DOOM, the combat is fun + the rpg elements are light enough to add the the experience without taking away from it.. They mainly just give you context + also motivate you to scrounge as much junk as possible for sweet upgrades.

If this game came out in 90's people would have been raving about it. There are so many amazing and totally free games and mods like this out there these days. That no-one has played or heard of lol. It's mad but also a golden age of computer games imo.

I'm still playing through the Ancient Aliens doom mod when I get a few free minutes here and there. Tons of doom mods and quake mods out there, too many to get to.

Thanks for sharing. This looks and sounds right up my alley.

Reminds me of the 1997 game Take No Prisoners, a top down 3rd person "open world" post apocalyptic shooter taking place in a city. Felt like a mix of Fallout, Escape from New York, and STALKER.

@Meerkat trudat. I find the best doom mods via the cacoawards. Also the mother of all quake mods = Arcane dimensions

@Two Jar Slave Cheers :)

@Nominal Oh thats interesting. I had never heard of those 3 Raven software games made with vampire engine until you prompted me to look them up. take no prisoners, necrodome, mageslayer. They all look good / interesting.

I gave it a try for about half an hour.

It contains one of my FPS pet peeves, which is that you slide around on every goddamn surface like Mega Man in the rain.

Besides that, it's terrific. I especially liked its version of a pile of wrecked wasteland cars, which was just a big cube with a repeating jpeg texture slapped on it. So refreshing to play an FPS that knows it's a videogame and not a movie, and I doubt anyone lost their marriage crunching this out.

Looking forward to more.

(FPS isn't my preferred genre -- I'm sure there are lots of great offerings outside the Call of Battlefield blockbusters.)

@Two Jar Slave

Yeah the ice-physics is just DOOM. Thats what its like.

Imo more realistic / higher fidelity graphics in games is often *less* immersive, because its easier for any flaw to stick out and break the immersion. eg. AAA game has amazing textures and shaders, but then when part of a character model is clipping through something it really sticks out, and is jarring, suddenly reminding you that you are playing a game, breaking immersion.
With lower-fi graphics the players imagination is doing more of the heavy lifting and its harder for graphics to break immersion, eg. one of the most immersive types of games = text adventure.

Also, in a virtual world where you can do literally *anything* trying to accurately visually recreate reality, just seems pointless, extremely lame, and lacking imagination.

Agreed on all points.
