I actually am saying "we'll see," though what I am afraid of is Putin showing off his next-gen military capabilities in utterly inhumane strikes to finish off the defense. If they continue this invasion the way they have been, with their shaky supply lines and the incoming load of AA and AT weaponry from germany and the US, this might go on for enough weeks that their troops become malnourished and demoralized, and it may lead to a successful fending off of the invasion (for now).

Would be nice if Ukraine just surrendered instead of throwing its civilians into the grinder to fight Putin on behalf of western ambitions.

I’m very worried about the suicidal nationalistic fervor Ukrainians are falling under. This is a regime change war, not a genocide war. I don’t see any point in dying for a yellow and blue flag any more than any other color flag.

This is Russia copying Iraq and it will get very bloody if the Ukrainian military retreats into populated areas and a lot of civilians start an insurgency.

war moves fast and i am 2 days late to commenting, but this is what i've been saying since before the invasion: this will be a humiliating defeat for russia. they are absolutely going to get their asses kicked. putin is a cunt, obviously, but up to this point i thought he was at least pretty cunning. now i know he's having some sort of psychotic episode and he's actually a gigantic moron - one of the great idiots of history.

I kind of think they'll negotiate a "ok we won't join NATO" and the status quo will be restored with Russia having proved (again, as they did in Georgia) that they're willing to fight to prevent NATO expansion on their borders and NATO isn't willing to fight to expand.
