Oh man, the Dion Waiters lines were stuff of legend. It led them to bring in Spike Lee to direct the story mode for 2K16, and it's even worse.
In the story mode you're an up and coming star named Frequency Vibrations, you have a manipulative best friend named Vic Van Lier, and a girlfriend named Yvette Ming Ching. This is not a joke.
As you start to make money, Vic tries to use your shine to get his music career off the ground.
Eventually Vic borrows one of your cars and commits suicide. The in-game commenters reference the tragic passing of Frequency Vibration's childhood friend, Vic Van Lier. Again, this was actually greenlit and nobody stopped it from happening.

Herr Matthias - 2022-04-26 Actually I'm pretty sure Shaq (and his real voice) was in this game, as a broadcaster. This was probably just a create-a-player that happened to have the same name.
But the idea that 2K had to get the real players to come into the studio and try to do voice acting, just for that added "realism", is...well, it probably sounded like a good idea at the time.
