I love William Shatner for a lot of reasons, but I love that when he told the story of how he forced them to air the historic kiss by looking into the camera for the alternative takes, he doesn't claim to trying to ennoble race relations or any of that bullshit, he just wanted to get his romantic leading man close-up to make it to air.
