To say that ‘the civilized world’ did what it could to stop the genocide of Palestine is a big stretch.

Did the barest possible fraction of a minimum, on the same level as bumper sticker activism.

Nominal - 2024-01-13

One of the only 2 countries on Earth with worse systemic racism than America just called us out on complicity with racial cleansing.

teethsalad - 2024-01-14

see how much more effective an argument can be when you don't immediately start screaming NAZI NAZI PEDO NAZI or leaning into antisemitic tropes?

between the IDF, netanyah & the settlers - and hamas, and their "allies" on the global left more concerned with shoehorning their pet causes & grievances into the framework, the palestianians certainly aren't being done any favors by absolutely fucking anyone

SolRo - 2024-01-14

That’s rich coming from a crying little bitch trying to block all isreali videos on an internet backwater

Also the amazing hypocrisy of you demanding everyone use their quiet polite words to talk about Zionist Nazis while you were calling every Russian a mass murdering rapist a year ago

ashtar. - 2024-01-14

"What is important is asking for genocide to stop in exactly the right tone and to not be rude."

-teeth "dupe vote every video in the hopper" salad

glasseye - 2024-01-14

There's no convincing these "Genocidin' With Biden" ghouls. They call for respectability only because they know it doesn't work, and they don't want their hatred of brown people abroad to have any consequences.

poorwill - 2024-01-15

hi teethsalad, i am gonna hang you upside down and shake you until your guts come out your mouth :)

Simillion - 2024-01-16

I think Teeth is right though. By now the only humanitarian argument is clearly in favor of stopping all violence in Gaza, and there isn't any reason for me to pretend that I still side with Israel on this one. Bibi is burning Gaza to the ground and his ultra-conservative cabinet is being outed as being genocidal (Though, to prove intent of genocide, a LOT more proof in the form of rhetoric is going to be needed. I was disappointed at how little proof of genocidal INTENT they actually presented here).

The initial wave of postings at poetv that leapt at a chance to call Jewish people Nazis and was ridiculous both in appearance and in evidence base at that time, but now there has never been any definitive evidence presented by this point that any hospital raided was actually a command center and so on and so on. The initial wave of dogma here on this backwoods website totally betrayed a bias in favor of antisemitic intent. But by now, I no longer care about that. The "early adopters" still disgust me for how readily they seemed not to care about an invasion that killed >1000 Israeli people, but now the gravity of action and the way it's been done by the IDF is absolutely horrifying and has to stop, had to arguably well below the 10,000 killed mark, when those initial strikes probably blew away most of Hamas' senior leadership anyway. By now there isn't any doubt that the retaliation is way out of scope from the initial killing of >1000 Jewish people and has to stop immediately before Israel gets a permanent, Iraq-Afghanistan like multi-front Arab conflict, though arguably it's already too late and that has already begun.

For a genocide court to win though, proving intent when there are still, evidently, 100 Israeli captives held by Hamas is going to be difficult. Self defense will reign in a court if there are still captives, though I suppose the court could compel Israel to give up on its captives (or can it? I don't know. There's no real precedent in the court's case law for a situation where one nation that announced that the other should not exist (ahem, Hamas) actively holds captives from another sovereign state.) This lawyer never even addressed the captives still in Gaza because there is no legal argument they have, at all, in denying a right to self-defense with those captives held.

You all on this website will doubtlessly decry the court as "rigged" or whatever, but the fact is you know there isn't any way you can't still cite some form of self defense when there are still captives held. You have to wonder why those captives are held and who is actually compelling this situation to go on like this. But with no captives remaining, there has to be a heavy price to pay for punishment taken collectively on the Palestinian people like this. The problem is, those captives are assumed still captive and alive, and thus there really isn't much more for a lawyer to strongly claim against this.

SolRo - 2024-01-16

“ but the fact is you know there isn't any way you can't still cite some form of self defense when there are still captives held.”

Zionist shitheel admits Israel cannot claim self defense as it holds thousands of Palestinians hostage in its jails without any due process and an apartheid state justice system

Also admits he thinks 1 isreali is worth 10 Palestinians (‘probably killing 10,000 was about the right amount of Palestinian dead’)

Gmork - 2024-01-16

So you're mad because we were right early on, so you must lie about our intentions being anti-semitic (which is extremely hilarious if you know me irl)

Simillion - 2024-01-16

I shouldn't entertain shitposts with a reply but I'll bite,
1.) Solro: you're genuinely right that Israel is holding way too many palestinians without due charges and due process and likely illegally (though I can't prove that and neither can anyone AFAIK), so I suppose that means that the initial attack on Israel was just as "justified" as the current response against Hamas/Palestine; but then again, doesn't that further prove the point of self-defense (just on the part of both Hamas and IDF now).

2.) GMork: I wasn't mad that your guys' side was right early on, I was genuinely taken aback that there was so little sign of regard for the oct 6 attack on Israel. Those two things are not equivalent.

Oh, and the death/captive ratio that Solro is not a measure of the "worth" of lives for godssake, it's just reflective of the military might and approach (And Israel's is one of wanton and unrelenting destruction without regard for civilian life), and nothing else. none of these lives, Israeli or Palestinian, should ever have been lost, and nobody's "admitting" that one life is worth less/more than another; it's more of the duration of the retaliation and the purpose it led to. The initial fighting might have led to lasting peace when there was a brief cease-fire, and that is what I was referring to with that timing of the deathcount, but not because I think it was okay for 10,000 Palestinians to die, but that

poorwill - 2024-01-16

Simillion: shut the fuck up, moron. cut your dick off and bleed to death.

ashtar. - 2024-01-17

Simillion: as long as you're on board with a ceasefire and holding all involved accountable for violations of international law, I think additional differences of opinion are sort of quibbling at this point.

Binro the Heretic - 2024-01-14

24,000 dead people, nearly half of those children.

And we helped.

Anaxagoras - 2024-01-14

Yup.

And it may cost Biden the election due to loss of Arab-American support. Which is both stupid (Really? Do you think Trump is a champion of Palestinian rights??) and perfectly understandable (Seriously, what the fuck is Biden doing here?). This is one of the rare times when I have strong feelings in both directions on an issue.

Binro the Heretic - 2024-01-14

The thing is, at least people rallied to fight against Trump and his administration's awful policies.

Once Biden got in office, everyone forgot about the plight of immigrants & refugees at the Southern US border and the situation has gotten so much worse.

When the Democratic party stops offering up dogshit neoliberal candidates, people will start voting Democrat again.

glasseye - 2024-01-14

Yeah, it's real hard to see him winning MI after enthusiastically supporting the genocide of Palestinians. We have the largest Arab-American community in the country, and they're real pissed off.

Binro the Heretic - 2024-01-14

And young people are pissed about how he made big promises then reverted to neoliberal asshole as soon as he was elected.

Anaxagoras - 2024-01-15

Wait... what are you talking about? Biden has delivered on a surprising number of his promises. What promises do you think he has reneged on?

Binro the Heretic - 2024-01-15

He's kept about a third of his promises, but none that really matter to young people. Of course, his administration will never admit he failed to keep the rest. They'll simply blame the GOP for dragging their feet.

The biggest ones for young people are student debt relief and addressing climate change. The latter is a truly broken promise as Biden has not only refused to block more fracking on federal land, he's been handing out drilling rights like candy.

Then there are a lot of quality-of-life things he hasn't delivered on, like making sure everyone has broadband access, tax credits for child care, justice reform, healthcare reform, etc.

Yes, the GOP is going to fight against all that, but Biden has always been a neoliberal and his beliefs align with most GOP beliefs, so he hasn't fought back too hard.

glasseye - 2024-01-15

Anaxagoras, you might want to google what Biden's done at the southern border.

Oh, and student loan relief, climate change, the minimum wage, handling the COVID pandemic, police brutality, etc etc etc.

glasseye - 2024-01-15

And yes I am aware they passed some boring infrastructure bill that nobody cares about.

Crackersmack - 2024-01-16

my entire life I was told that I have to vote for shitty useless asshole Democrats that would do nothing for me because at least they would protect abortion rights, and that was more important than anything because it was literally life or death for women

and then Roe was overturned while Democrats had full control of the
federal government, and the same liberals that said I had to vote Dem to protect abortion rights will give me a bunch of excuses why it's OK that the Democratic Party treated the end of abortion rights in America as a financial windfall instead of a public health crisis

Binro the Heretic - 2024-01-16

And let's not forget Biden busting the rail workers union and his administration putting railroad companies' profits ahead of public safety.

SolRo - 2024-01-16

APAC owns Washington, doesn’t matter who gets elected or how openly Israel murders Arabs, Washington will keep protecting the Zionist Nazis and their genocidal ambitions

Crackersmack - 2024-01-14

keep in mind that people that get their news primarily from the cable news media saw very little or none of the case against Israel at this hearing but saw Israel's response in it's entirety, along with hours of Israel-slanted analysis

ashtar. - 2024-01-14

The way US media has been covering this has been insane.

Crackersmack - 2024-01-15

On MLK day it's not a bad idea to revisit the Letter From Birmingham Jail, specifically what he said about the "white moderate" since it perfectly describes the way that shitlibs feel about Hamas, or about any movement of oppressed people that actually confronts their oppressors:

“…the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Councilor or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: ‘I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action’; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a ‘more convenient season.’ ”
