So this is why the Stan Lee Media stock tanked back in 2001. And here I thought it was the hype surrounding the stock combined with almost zero delivery of follow-up product. I mean, it's possible that Striperella and the 7th Portal could've generated 300 million, but, you know, pigs could fly too.
Also, this seems to be more of a Peter Paul issue than a Stan Lee issue.
As for the real reason Stan Lee Media failed, the blame can be based squarely on Paul, for the fuck-up maneuver of buying the full rights to Conan with the 4 million he generated in stock by taking the company public. When they didn't have any money left to produce content, the company tanks. Then, when the company files for bankruptcy, guess who doesn't bother to keep up with monthly filings? Then guess who flees to Brazil after the filing? Then guess who comes back and pleads guilty to SEC Rule 10b-5?
Stan Lee never even got implicated. This all seems like a big BAAAAAAAWWWW on the part of Peter Paul.
Stan Lee Media, which Lee is no longer involved with, is now suing Marvel for 5 billion claiming that it owns half the rights to all characters created by Stan Lee. Stan Lee Media is also, right now, suing Stan Lee, Stan Lee's new company POW, and various other people who worked for Stan Lee Media under pope who now work for Stan.
In short, Peter Paul is a schmuck.
