Case and point: The ending was just a mosaic of stills from the intro with the something like "Nice Try" or something written in the middle. I thought I got that because I used cheats the first time but nope, got it every time even without cheats.
Although there was a little satisfaction to be had with the russian mission of hauling a bus load of people to a hot dog factory. And the multiplayer mode was pretty cool.
I actually installed this one a while ago since you can download it for free (legally). I must say after playing "modern" games for a while it really seems a bit confusing and the controls are a bit of a hassle.
I especially hate how little of the screen you can see when you're driving, you always end up rear-ending a car and then cops rear-end you and stuff blows up and there go your respect, weapons etc. Then it turns into a "replay the same long, boring thing a 200 times before the traffic and/or AI is favorable".
I found that with the first GTA as well. You couldn't go all out in a Cheetah or a Banshee or whatever the hell they called the sports cars because you'd just bang into things.
Despite that, I stuck with playing GTA London for a long time just because the music was ten thousand different kinds of awesome.
The spawn pattern for random vehicles generally puts more cars in oncoming lanes, with vehicles travelling the player's direction of travel spaced just a little ways ahead (you swerve, smack into the ass of the vehicle in front). Knowing this, you can carefully slide back and forth across lanes and get some proper speed going on wider roads. It's not 100% but works better than trying to react to every car on the screen.
