Eva's pretentious and self-congratulatory nature is exactly what makes it so fun.

The creator/director/head writer was recovering from a severe nervous breakdown while he made this and it shows.

I love EVA, and always will, but I find it interesting how they make it out to be an action series.

unless you mean the recent anime film Metropolis (which i rather doubt), because that was made in Japan.

but since you're obviously trolling without even bothering to check references I'll refrain from adding that Bladerunner was directed by the British director Ridley Scott and performed poorly in North American theaters.

My thoughts exactly. Awesome trailers were ADV's specialty. They could make even the shittiest of shitty shit anime look appealing to any kid in the 90's.
