You are wrong. Romney is good at raising money and voters already know him. If the Republicans get another bunch of crap candidates in 2012 Romney will win the nomination by default just like McCain won by default last time.

Romney IS a shit candidate. He'll never be relevant again. He's not religious enough to get the religious right and he's not tea-party enough to get them.
