Oh, America!

kamlem - 2010-10-22

Fortunately the racist morons this ad targets are just the sort of people who would go "Ugh, subtitles!" and flip the channel.

Raggamuffin - 2010-10-22

Communist China knows better than to have a big government to control their financial sector.

rawelkij - 2010-10-22

My neighbor is one of the directors for CAGW. We do not ever talk about politics.

KillerGazebo - 2010-10-22

Anybody care to explain why Rickroll is the next related video?

notascientist - 2010-10-22

The chinese in this ad look like they really have it together. They are healthy and attractive looking, and obviously well organized and wise. Seems like it wouldn't be so bad to work for them.

yeahjim - 2010-10-22

They look like an American TV version of the perfect college classroom... which is part of the point, and in a way to most sinister part of the racism.

Xenocide - 2010-10-22

Plus they all got top marks in Evil Supervillain Laughter 101.

Do we get some sort of plaque to commemorate the moment when American political ads became indistinguishable from a GI Joe episode?

badideasinaction - 2010-10-22

This just in - apparently the right believes China's political/economic model is the key to prosperity.

Toenails - 2010-10-22

This is exactly how nations work out their outstanding debt with each other.

Just like on those old sitcoms where characters didn't have any money to pay their for their dinner at some fancy restaurant and they had to spend the night washing dishes.

Vaidency - 2010-10-22

So, the message this ad sends is that, in the near future, the American system will have crashed and burned and the Chinese system will be stronger than ever.

And the message this ad wants me to take from that is that we need to stand up for the American system and resist changes that would make us more like the Chinese.

5 stars for the impeccable logic.

Xenocide - 2010-10-22

Check out those production values. I wonder which huge corporation Americans Against Insert Right Wing Buzzword Here is a front for.

(looks it up) Wait, the tobacco industry? You guys already have Asia by the balls. What are you bitching about?

Also, how does this "working for the Chinese" thing play out, exactly? Do they buy all our flags and then we all become employees of China, Inc? Or is it more of a thing where they roll out the tanks and conquer us and we can't resist because Obama took our guns? How many assault robots will there be? This sci-fi distopia leaves too many unanswered questions.

chumbucket - 2010-10-22

so this is Chinese feeling bad about US neglecting principles that they inherently reject

frau_eva - 2010-10-22

THIS. A professor in a totalitarian state like China lauding the values of their ideological and economic opposite, even if we have been "conquered" in this scenario.
Conservatives pretty much think that our enemies are JUST TOTALLY JEALOUS OF HOW COOL WE ARE OMG.

Oscar Wildcat - 2010-10-22

Well I don't think we can get them addicted to opium again; what else you got GOP? BTW, if the communists can do capitalism so much better than we can, what does that say about America?

themilkshark - 2010-10-22

Keep fear alive.

memedumpster - 2010-10-22

Here is a documentary on China's university life that I thought was very interesting.

http://factualtv.com/documentary/Inside-China-s-Campuses

Kind of makes this commercial ten times more insulting.

Zarathustra00 - 2010-10-22

All of my Google ads are about meeting cute Chinese girls which if I do now, I can get married and have my citizenship changed so that in 2030 I'll be laughing along with all of those students.

I guess Google really does know how to target its ads.

Senator_Unger - 2010-10-22

This ad is stupid, everyone knows all the great countries in history have collapsed because they overreached trying to build an empire they couldn't sustain. As we all know, the previous sentence in no way describes us or what we are doing.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-10-23

Everybody check your watches, I think it became the 1950's again by accident.
