The Mothership - 2010-11-17

Sometime in the 930s, that is, over 1000 years ago, King Athelstan of England made a law whereby criminals 16 years and older would be considered adults, and subject to death for capital offenses. He did this in response to serious law and order issues at the time.
Didn't work.
Before he died in 939 he formally issued a new law rescinding his former pronouncement, he acknowledged that it was cruel, and admitted that it did not reduce crime.

1080 years ago, yo.

The gibbet is not the same as life without parole, but still.

Victim of mandatory sentencing laws?

Sounds like the judge was a douche. "Lack of moral scruples"... really? She doesn't have to apologise for anything. The judge, the cops, and social services should apologise to her.

women who kill their abusers should be charged with manslaughter and given therapy. not to mention children who do so out of horrible desperation. i mean it's practically self defense. this poor woman. :(

My money's on her being a victim of a judge with friends in the prison industry. Either way this is the most evil thing I've posted on here.

I was just thinking yesterday about how neat it would be if hookers were armed and had a single Night of the Depimping wherein an entire city's worth of prostitutes offed their pimps, leaving hundreds of pimp corpses for the cops to mull over.
