Really? I always thought that the "The Jazz Singer" was the first talkie, and that was in 1927. Maybe this is an early demo? The directness and simplicity of it reminds me of YouTube. He dances a little, but that's just paqrt of how he does the song.
People were experimenting with sound on film and sound on disc shortly after the introduction of motion pictures, with working tech in the 19th century. Jazz Singer was the first feature to use Vitaphone to great commercial success & the first with synched dialogue and diegetic sounds, but there had been other features with music and bits of dialog before that.
