The Mothership - 2009-12-10
I always pictured the man behind the Mallard as more a crotchety old gold-hoarding one-eyed toothless geezer. Nice to see that he is as unfunny in real life as his wretched cartoon.

Way to not be Al Capp...
StanleyPain - 2009-12-10
I like how he pretends it takes some kind of work or creative exercise to make the comic.
He once managed to publish basically the same, identical "joke"
4 or 5 weeks in a row before anyone notice.

spikestoyiu - 2009-12-10 Haha, you guys have read Mallard Fillmore.
StanleyPain - 2009-12-10 Actually, I didn't even know what Mallard Fillmore was until I saw the parody of it in the Daily Show book America. I just assumed they made it up to parody the usual right-leaning strips.

"Research." He wants us to believe he does hours of research.
Replace "research" with "whiskey" and perhaps there's some truth to that.
Lurchi - 2009-12-10
That "Day By Day" comic is even worse. (In fact it is the worst.)

This man has my dream job. Spend most of your day sitting on the internet drunkenly reading the news. Then draw daffy duck in a suit spouting republican talking points.
Profit.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-12-10
"I haven't had the luxury of having writers block since I was about 17 years old."
In crazy Republican land, where up is down and black is white and everything is topsy-turvy, never failing to hit an extremely low creative standard is something to be proud of.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-12-10 The only thing worse than a political cartoon is a political cartoon in strip form.
Hey, that guy lying in the gutter's shirt says ECONOMY on it! Oh how I wish I could attain such genius, even for a brief, fleeting moment.
pastorofmuppets - 2009-12-10 This was meant as a reply to Cena and fluffy but honestly it could go anywhere.
Cena_mark - 2009-12-10
Mallard Fillmore may suck but there are plenty of liberal comics that suck. La Cucarracha pisses me off the most. Especially how it self righteously chastises anybody for enforcing our immigration laws as a racist.
fluffy - 2009-12-10 I think the main issue is that most comic strips suck, period. Syndicates don't want something creative and interesting, they want something with a proven track record, which leads to a boring monoculture.
MrBuddy - 2009-12-11 I'm looking at you Doonesbury.
poorwill - 2009-12-11 Tom the Dancing Bug is funny - and liberal! Sssssuck it Cena_Mark!!!!!!
pastorofmuppets - 2009-12-11 Dammit, you're right. I forgot about that one.
Old_Zircon - 2010-07-08 It kept going past the 70s, for one. The first five years were great.
oogaBooga - 2009-12-10
I think they purposely make the "funnies" not funny.
The only way to get your comic published is to meet a certain standard of bland archie-style forgetfulness.
memedumpster - 2009-12-10
I never heard of this comic, so I looked it up, read two of them, and vowed never to read it again. It was boring as fuck.
snothouse - 2009-12-10
Good to see his still has the old fire in the belly!
FABIO - 2010-12-08
I always liked to think that this was a direct response to Mallard Fillmore.
