The difference is ephebophiles are morally repugnant, whereas true pedophiles are morally AND biologically repugnant.

They're actually different things, and it's not helpful to get them confused. Being sexually attracted to 15 year olds is absolutely normal when you're 15. For some reason there's some sort of development that isn't happening.

It's never healthy to be attracted to a prepubescent child. Something very different has happened in those situations. The cause, treatment, and prognosis are likely to be different.

It matters what words mean. We can't fix problems we can't talk about like fucking adults.

The janitor at my highschool was pretty clean. The janitor at my elementary school, however, had a real creepy stare. Also, he molested a couple kids.

We shit on the victims of pedophilia metaphorically. Our response to pedophilia is downright sociopathic toward the victims of pedophiles.

Those kids are fucking confused why a brief but embarrassing encounter with a trusted adult is being treated like a fate worse than death that somehow ruins children forever. Adults start telling these children how broken they are. Many of them believe it. It's a perfectly plausible explanation that solves the mystery of why this thing that everyone says is supposed to be terrible actually felt good in a way they don't really understand.

Also, we demonize and dehumanize pedophiles so much that we are always fucking surprised and a little bit incredulous when a human being that gives to charity and makes that really good spinach dip in a long french bread bowl turns out to be a pedophile.
