I also believe the Republicans should continue on their current policy path.
Just for different reasons.

Nikon - 2012-11-16

Maybe they could get Mittens to run again in 2016.

Syd Midnight - 2012-11-23

Stay the course. Don't switch horses midstream. Something about waffles.

memedumpster - 2012-11-16

I am in complete agreement that Republicans should stick to their guns, even going so far as to declare mass secession so they can all be tried for treason. Whatever it takes to end them for the rest of the history of the universe.

Oscar Wildcat - 2012-11-16

"We had to destroy the village in order to save it".

Oscar Wildcat - 2012-11-16

Also : Whose analysis is this? It's incredible. "Talk radio is thriving. And our moderate candidates are losing. What we need is ....more extreme talk radio!"

memedumpster - 2012-11-16

I think Seth Macfarlane is writing their platform at this point.

Cena_mark - 2012-11-16

You need over half the people to win national elections. You don't need that to top the news ratings when the young relevant voters aren't watching your competition.

Eroticus E - 2012-11-16

That's about as grating as a human voice can sound.

jreid - 2012-11-16

Also she nods every sentence out of her head like one of those drinking birds.

Nikon - 2012-11-16

She is a smarmy, obnoxious twat. That said, I hope many members of the GOP take her advice so that they can keep losing elections.

Robin Kestrel - 2012-11-17

She needed three or four dissolve cuts in there because she couldn't do the entire thing in one take. It's like she can only get two sentences out of her head at a time.

Yet she's made her share of snide Obama-teleprompter references, of course.

Hooker - 2012-11-16

I love the sheer hatred of black people. On social issues, black people have been shown to be somewhat conservative, but holy shit, fuck them. Republicans only want women and, if they grit their teeth, latinos.

Maggot Brain - 2012-11-16

Passive racism is the best kind!

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-11-16

They're not using the words we keep telling them not to use. Why isn't that enough?

Myrmidon - 2012-11-16

Is that really a surprise? This is the party that believes the only real racists left in America ARE the minorities.

Cena_mark - 2012-11-16

They gave up on the brothas long ago.

Quad9Damage - 2012-11-16

- More young people are turning toward scientific evidence rather than blindly believing in a Bronze Age fairy tale.

- College students are realizing that perhaps having their federal financial aid slashed to ribbons is not a good thing.

- 22-year-old women are preferring that the GOP keep its probing old white man fingers out of their wombs.

- Gays no longer feel the need to be ashamed and, SHOCKINGLY, they're tired of being treated like second-class citizens.

- Blacks and Latinos are tired of being treated the way they have been for centuries.

- The demographic of people who are sick of being oppressed and told sentencing should be harsher for blacks, women shouldn't be allowed to have abortions, homosexuals shouldn't be allowed to get married, and public schools need to embrace the Judeo-Christian God...is growing larger and larger.

Yes, CLEARLY the GOP needs to hold on tight to that Tea Party. It sure seems to be working for them.

That guy - 2012-11-20

I think you mean Tea Party & religious right, but point taken since the overlap is sizable.

I'd begrudgingly prefer to see the GOP pull center even if it gave them more power, because I'd hope that politics in our country would become less stupid, insane, tendentious, AM radio bullshit. It'd be better to have two parties tempering each other relatively intelligently-- he said, gazing dreamily skyward.

It still boggles my mind how anyone in the middle or lower class can vote for the current GOP. I think it takes some stupendous hand-waving and fear-mongering, but amazingly, this keeps almost working. 48% is a lot of the country for what they're peddling.

FABIO - 2012-11-16

For some reason this was the first thing to pop into my head.

Xenocide - 2012-11-16

"The media pushed that same narrative after the GOP's 2006 wipeout, and when McCain lost to Obama."

She seems very happy about losing three of the last four elections.

IrishWhiskey - 2012-11-16

Bear in mind that the people in talk radio and conservative media are way more successful when their base loses elections and is pissed at liberal policies, than when they win elections and have to govern. Tacking hard right is bad for the GOP, good for them.

Some GOP Congressmembers would like to actually get shit done, like immigration and tax reform (it helps their big business owners), but for people like Ingraham, O'Reilly, Beck and Limbaugh, they make way more money scaring people about the liberal anti-Christs soon coming to round them into death-camps, than they do when they have to explain to their base that we can't just deport all brown people and pay no taxes, sometimes democracy involves interests other their their own and compromise. And no, taking away welfare from minorities and getting rid of Planned Parenthood doesn't fix the budget, the biggest costs are the wars you supported and the Social Security and Medicare you feel entitled to and the tax cuts going to the Tea Party spokespeople on your TV, but not it's members.

Riskbreaker - 2012-11-16

Pretty much this, that said, these assholes don't know other ways to behave.

Cena_mark - 2012-11-16

Their views are popular enough to top book seller lists and ratings, but not national elections.

Senator_Unger - 2012-11-16

Your super conservative, rape-fetishist, pro-life lunatics also lost two Senate seats in super red states. So, sure, tell everyone what you really think.

Cena_mark - 2012-11-16

She's so angry in this video.

Robin Kestrel - 2012-11-17

Well, somebody asked her a question which would require some honest introspection, some critical self-insight. She can instantly shut that down as "pushing that (liberal) narrative" and then go on to answer a fantasy question about pandering.

That's the GOP right there. This is why you need to be a little crazy to be a "true" conservative in the U.S. today. The only core tenant of the party in my adult lifetime seems to be "make the rich richer" and then they wonder why that isn't an appealing message to ordinary people.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-11-17

She's right. They can't turn their back on the base. They're absolutely locked into this approach. The fact that it's going to work less and less in the future doesn't matter. Without the southern strategy, they don't have anything.

That guy - 2012-11-20

Hmm, so you think that the GOP would get too much apathy if they eased up socially, went more center-right, and just tried to be the anti-taxes rah-rah party?
It seems that plenty of people will vote to "beat the other team" to me, and that could work for the GOP if they didn't push so many Americans away, but I've never studied up on election politics.
