Pearce has an uncanny knack for picking movies that should suck, but rock instead.
Don't get me wrong, the guy has delivered some excellent performances in many fine films, but he has radar for locating big stupid fun flicks to be in.

execs: "Hey guys let's make a movie. It's like that one movie, Escape from New York but it's like in OUTERSPACE INSTEAD! And let's make the character more vulnerable, like, I dunno, Jake Burton, that was his name right?" OK Green light.
me: (I'm going to enjoy the fuck out of this!)

kingarthur - 2013-02-19 Having seen this, that's the same conclusion I came to re: the math involved in creating this thing. I still didn't like it, despite Pearce truly trying his best.

infinite zest - 2013-02-20 I just don't understand why it can be 30 years in the future or 3,000- people still hang their clothes on clotheslines and neon's still really in style

This movie will cause another ten years of bored internet "science fiction is bullshit" comments. The action in this trailer literally plods, and the blinky dark fadey bullshit just makes you want it to stay dark and go away.
