For one bright moment, I kind of hoped Pat Robertson had done something awful while being a guest host on HGTV.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-05-12 HGTV actually has slightly more informative renovation and DIY shows than, say... TLC. At least in Canada, eh.
|
infinite zest - 2014-05-12 Ah. I kind of see most channels as a big hypocrisy. You don't really learn anything on TLC, the Travel Channel focuses mainly on some fatass douchebag eating his way through food challenges, and the Weather Channel focuses mostly on disasters instead of telling me what the weather's going to be like today. Food Network doesn't really tell you how to make the food they're making anymore.
I guess if I owned a home, had cable and HGTV I might tune in for an exciting show where I remember the repair skills I watched in a way that looking it up on the internet can't provide. But fuck it. Landlord!

If pat is upset about it being stopped, i'm guessing the bigotry in question was homophobia, correct?
But then again it could be something anti-muslim or anti-Semitic...

Give the Benham Brothers' a new series, Pat.
They could built medieval torture devices, arks or coffins. Whatever you may need in the near future...

Fascists are such sore winners. The world is unfixably fucked in their favor and we're all doomed to having our flesh rot straight the fuck out from under us while we starve and rape fuck each others' corpses. So smile every once in a while, Pat. Show us it was at least worth it for you.

Ok, so, the politically-correctors 'taking down' the Duck Dynasty guys = bad, but the Saudis taking down the liberal blogger =, uh, bad. Who are your good guys, Pat? Never mind, Grandpa. Go have some Postum.
Oh, and how would you know how painful lashes actually *are,* Pat?
Heh, giggity .I'd pay good money to see that.

infinite zest - 2014-05-12 I think it was just the one guy from Duck Dynasty who got in trouble for the interview, but his kinfolk defended his right to free speech. In a sad way I understand this: my ex wife's family were pretty damn conservative and I had to walk on eggshells about Bush, abortions, you name it. Oh and definitely don't talk about that abortion we decided to have. Let's talk about those Packers.
If you read the bible (ahem) religiously and take everything literally, then yes: to you, homosexuality is a sin and so are abortions, among many other things like FOOTBALL DIVORCE AND YOUR STUPID FUCKING GECKO TATTOO.

So in Saudi Arabia if you say the wrong thing they sentence you to prison and torture. In America if you say the wrong thing they sentence you to not having your own TV show.
Yeah, those are totally the same.
