My last viewing of this film was a significant disappointment. I recall coming from my first viewing of it as the best movie ever. I can't argue that the actors weren't good, that the story wasn't interesting...but the last time I saw it I thought it felt terribly hacked together in places and lacked a real sense of caring about what happens to anyone involved in it. It felt more like Scorsese saying "hey I read a cool book and here's all the scenes I imagined from it". Maybe I just dwelt more on structure rather than story having seen it several times already.
Outside of that, the Gabriel soundtrack is possibly the greatest film soundtrack ever.
Also, I miss these guys.
