Out of all the comic strips you could adapt to TV, why Baby Blues?

Jeriko-1 - 2017-04-04

I ain't even gonna watch it because the comic is fingernails down a chalkboard bad enough. Have five for evil though.

I recall coming across this on Adult Swim and of all of the other networks' leavings they aired this was the most...it wasn't even bland. It was just there. Occupying schedule space. This is what this sort of show is for, time slot filler for those spots where a network doesn't really have anything else for, but they have to air 'something'.

Yeah I was in college at the time and sunday nights were the worst between work and school, so I'd get home and my housemates would all be stoned having just watched Space Ghost or Brak or something and it was either this or fucking Mission Hill. Sad for me, but understandably a Neilsen graveyard. More recently I was at a bar with AS on the TV and at 1AM or so they just repeat the block instead. Basically, Adult Swim created prime time for the swing shift set from around 1-4AM!

Don't forget they got Home Movies from that same rummage box..!!!

infinite zest - 2017-04-04

oh shit Home Movies was UPN. Am I racist now?

Old_Zircon - 2017-04-04

No, but if it was on USA you'd be a commie.

Maggot Brain - 2017-04-04

Mom humor at it's finest.

Nominal - 2017-04-04

Every single punchline of the comic was "BABIES!"

Did they ever do an adaptation of Zitz, where every punchline was "TEENAGERS!"

infinite zest - 2017-04-05

No, but Cathy got a few animated TV movies. ACK!

Gmork - 2017-04-04

I dunno, I liked how the cigarette smoking mom and her whole family was dysfunctional yet felt more real than the main characters. Other than that, though, it's pure shit.

Kid Fenris - 2017-04-04

Yeah, this is mediocre but largely inoffensive compared to, say, that Undergrads cartoon.

Xenocide - 2017-04-05

The neighbor family aren't in the comic strip, as they possess a tiny dying spark of humanity within them, which is not allowed in modern newspaper comics. You can tell that the writers would much rather be making a show about them.

Spit Spingola - 2017-04-04

Very 90s. Interesting though because most of the successful 90s adult cartoons either courted controversy or came in riding the coattails of a more controversial cartoon (King of the Hill and Daria). This is amazingly bland to shoot for an adult audience. It would be memorable if they didn't make a Dilbert cartoon also.

I'm glad Julia Sweeney got a paycheck though, she's cool.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2017-04-05

This is the most 90s thing that ever 90ied the 90s.

Caminante Nocturno - 2017-04-04

They couldn't have picked a more appropriate song to be the theme for something so bland.

Xenocide - 2017-04-05

All-Star.

Binro the Heretic - 2017-04-04

Did they ever try to turn "Fox Trot" into a series?

It seems like the sort of thing they could get away with.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2017-04-05

"WHY IS THERE NO '9 CHICKWEED LANE' ADAPTATION. OR A BABY BLUES MOVIE. OR HOW ABOUT TUMBLEWEEDS AS A SERIES. OH GOD THE COMEDIC OPPORTUNITIES BEING SQUANDERED!" - no one ever
