The problem with Yaniv is this: If one accepts the premises that people can self-id as whatever gender they choose, and that any third party saying or doing anything that treats the person who has self-id'd as a given gender in any way differently than any other person with that gender is discrimination that should be outlawed, then Yaniv is right and should succeed in her human rights complaints.

That's the nub of it. Yaniv cannot be dismissed as just a pedophile hiding in a marginalized community, or a false flag that a group of Lesbian TERFs cooked up with right wing Christians in a bunker in bizzaro-world, or that she's being used by the same to smear transpeople. The reason she can't be dismissed, the reason it matters matters is that the principles that people in the trans community advocate for, and in many cases have succeeded in getting written into law, are what enabled Yaniv to launch her vexatious human rights complaints.

One must either believe Yaniv deserves to win her legal actions, and that the Government of British Columbia should fine any beautician who refuses to wax her scrotum, or that the principles of self-id and the right to be affirmed in your chosen gender no matter what must be subject to exceptions and limitations.

My sympathy lays with the third world immigrants who've lost their livelihoods because they didn't know how to wax male genitals or couldn't go to a guy's house alone in the case of the sikh esthetician .
