This was the second anime I ever bought after Devil Hunter Yohko. It was either this or Twin Angels, which was like Devil Hunter Yohko but with a lot more sex. Eventually, I got Twin Angels as well.

I'm not sure how I went from those anime to things like Cardcaptor Sakura and Lucky Star, but that's no weirder than going from Sailor Moon to Angel Cop. I guess people's tastes just mature over time.

Friggin' nostalgia. Nothing quite like paying for a VHS tape of Project A-ko.

onemorepanic - 2007-06-15
Why you treacherous piece of shit..

I had the horrible pleasure of the Blockbuster Video and comic book store up the block stocking these gems.

Project A-ko! Macross and Vampire Hunter D. Appleseed, Fist of the..
I remember it being tough telling a girlfriend in high school one of my favorite movies was Perfect Blue.

Excuse me, who are you?

Man I love the old hand-drawn style of the 80's and 90's anime. I need to see this one now. More one liners than a Bruce Willis movie.
plaid_knight - 2007-08-03
The figures in modern anime are still hand drawn, but the drawings are scanned into a computer and then colored and animated there. All the backgrounds are done in 'shop. Sometimes they use computer models for vehicles and mecha.

Ichihara said the recoil of this gun could break my arm -- OH SHIT IT DID!

Don't be an idiot! Anyone can see you're totally fucked!
Shion - 2007-06-14
Ok, so I won't underestimate Japanese technology. Good to know.
mr666 - 2007-06-15
Something tells me I'll never see the appeal of anime. Oh, well, to each his own.....
EvilHomer - 2007-06-15
Ahhh, the good old days! Where did Japan go wrong?

My first was AKIRA, followed either by Appleseed, Robot Carnival, or Project A-ko, not sure in what order. It was probably Robot Carnival, since I was a slobbering Otomo fan boy for about a year and a half after seeing AKIRA.
kingarthur - 2007-06-15
I clearly missed something special in my early days then.
Emcee - 2007-06-15
You fackaaaaaaaaa! Try some of this!
Xenocide - 2007-06-15
That logo is made of blood they shot from a gun. A blood-gun.

Early anime dubs went out of their way to be as vulgar as humanly possible and that's why they were beautiful. Even Sailor Moon was full of profanity-free insults and put-downs like "sleaze queen."
giygusattack - 2007-06-15
"FUCK and PIIIIIIISS!!!"
Mayberry Pancakes - 2007-06-25
Is it "fuck and piss" or "fuck ass piss"? I couldn't tell. It's not like either makes any more sense.

Afgh - 2007-06-15
Yeah! I knew I watched JAPANIMATION at age 15 for a good reason.
oogaBooga - 2008-06-02
I dont think anyone's going to bite.

sosage - 2007-06-15
VHS Angel Cop LJ: For some reason, the trailer to this is the only thing I remember (it was on one of my 30 dollar old school anime VHS tapes). Specifically, when the trailer's narrator says "battle against Innnnter national terrrrrorrrrriiiiiisssssmmmmmm". Why did I share this? I dunno.
zatojones - 2007-06-15
When I was 17 my girlfriend knew a guy who used to steal anime tapes from our mall's SunCoast Video store. We copied a few from him until the novelty of robot suits and giant eyed teenagers who save the world wore off. That took maybe 4 months. I never watched another "Japanimation" video again.
revdrew - 2007-06-15
Apparently, this anime was originally chock full of antisemitism and Zionist conspiracies. I'm waiting to watch that version of it.
Wheelie McJesus - 2007-06-15
-1 for no "If this is justice then I'M A BANANA!"
Wombles - 2009-11-13
Would've been fun to be a voice actor for this.

MindGeyser - 2007-06-15
Alright, buttfuck, that's enough speech-making for now.
PegLegPete - 2007-06-15
I saw this when I was like 11 or 12, when you're that age this stuff is fucking awesome.

It's making me nostalgic too. Angel Cop, Iria, Tank Police, M.D. Geist, Beautiful Dreamer, Akira, City Hunter, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll ahh those were the good ol' days. I'm a reformed anime lover; I still love the ones I watched as a kid but I shun most of it now, unless someone introduces me to a good one. The 90's was the golden era of anime and it'll never be the same again.
teethsalad - 2007-06-15
i paid way too much for a series of streamline video dubbed vhs tapes while i was in junior high

oh, my wasted youth
Mayberry Pancakes - 2007-06-17
"DIE!" "No, I don't think so."
Bone_Vulture - 2007-08-21
Yeah, made me think that even with dubs and obscenities anime dialogue is still awkward.

Hooper_X - 2007-06-27
Yeah. This is high school, alright. Badly dubbed, hyperviolent JAPANIMATION with all kinds of cusses and titties. Brings back the memories, it does.
plaid_knight - 2007-08-03
Also, fuck and piss!
Baby Finster - 2007-08-05
It's like they hired the Trailer Park Boys to write the dub script.
Vicious - 2007-08-11
How come the old guy in the suit is the only person who didn't bleed? Everyone else practically exploded.
vecctor - 2007-08-17
I have no idea how or why anything just happened, but I laughed.
"Adios, bitch! "

4+ For being. 1- for sounding like the neo-cons on YouTube
Derrida - 2007-09-15
Really? All those clips, and not one of the fantastically horribly antisemetic subplot that was TOO HARDCORE FOR AMERICA?
j lzrd / swift idiot - 2007-10-20
Dubs like this are why, in the beginning of my descent into the madness of Japanimation, I thought the nerds who liked to read dialogue at the same time they watch the show were total idiots.
tamago - 2007-11-15
It's too bad dubs like this don't exist anymore.

Which is why I'm a sub nerd all the way now.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-03-18
Dude if dubs like this existed any more, I'd buy may much more anime than my budget can afford.

fluffy - 2007-10-27
SO MUCH HAIR
Karva - 2008-04-13
This misses the part where Angel Cop shoots the woman in the head again after she's dead for no apparent reason.
FABIO2 - 2008-05-24
Shit! What in the name of fuck!
oogaBooga - 2008-06-02
"You've underestimated the power of japanese technology, you evil bitch!"
Spit Spingola - 2008-06-20
Alright, buttfuck. That's enough speechmaking for now. Reminds me of South Park.

Fuck & Piss - tastier than Peanut Butter & Jelly.

Yum.
DMKA - 2008-10-25
Anime.

Anime.
Nikon - 2011-04-21
I wish they'd use one of the dialogue tracks on DVDs and Blu-Rays to offer joke dub tracks like this.
Nikon - 2011-04-21
