I was in NYC on election night in '08. When Obama was announced the winner, what seemed like every apartment building in the area emptied out into the streets in celebration. Total strangers cheering, hugging. It was a combination of sheer relief and just general love (tons of "Love you, man!").

Contrast with Republican wins where it's nothing but jeering and salivating how they're going to start oiling up their guns and finally getting to own the libs.

San Francisco was the same way in '08 when Obama won. Streets were flooded with people hollering out in celebration, waving American flags, and hugging.
