I for one welcome No Ad Hominems Week. I would suggest that the best way to play along is a) avoid naming names as much as possible, and b) avoid any kind of name-calling: "X is a Y". I know I've done both and will now scrupulously avoid it.

Now pedantic mode: Ad Hominem is a logical fallacy only when you try to refute a position by attacking the person holding it. Condemning someone's behavior is NOT an ad hominem. Lot of MAGA types misapply the ad hominem concept when they reject any and all criticism of Trump as "orange man bad!"

AD-HOMINEM: "Trump said Newark Airport is a dump, Trump is a habitual liar, therefore Newark Airport is lovely."

NOT AN AD-HOMINEM: "Trump instigated an attempted violent insurrection against the United States."

I mean, half of the people that chirp political here seem to contradict themselves in a very confusing way, sometimes in the same comment.

The other half gets upset if you call them out for posting a video anybody can find on reddit.

The real diggers are pretty much gone, and the freaks have left. Site's been dead for a while now, and most of us just come back out of boredom or habit.

I was around the original POE Red and stopped going around 2002 or so after shit got real. I honestly still think that those forums had some of the funniest shit I've ever seen. Nothing like it exists today. It would make SJW heads explode to know the mockery and cyberbullying that used to go on there.

I found POEtv years back when it started but just lurked for a little while. I kind of forgot about it and rediscovered it. I love the random video feature to this site and reading the awesome comments from years past. I like funny people being unique. I love standup comedy for the same reason, especially live when anything can happen. There is a total unpredictability factor to this place that used to be really interesting and there's so much I missed out on.

Poe News was so fucking funny back in the day. But even "dead" PoeTV introduced me to Contrapoints, Auralnauts, Lindsay Ellis, Ractalfece, Zefrank, Cyricak, Our Horrifying Planet, on and on and on.

And even though just about every criticism of the comments on this site is true, still hell of a lot better than YouTube, Reddit, 4chan. Something Awful had good forums, but I think that site's dead now too.
