Okay, thanks very much for voting up my video that I've been working on obsessively for about 8 years. Pardon the next embarrassing question.
Has anybody watched it? The internet archive is reporting 0 views. Now I know IVE been watching it, maybe I don't count.
You Tube banned me permanantly. I support YouTube's first amendment right to edit their own content, but I don't think it was necessary. They took down my Necromania files months before I was banned outright. I got the hint, and I abandoned the project. When I was banned, it was for test files I had uploaded to my account, which were private videos, never meant to be seen publicly.
And that's how I became an indietuber. I was tossed out onto the road less traveled, and that is making all the difference.
In some ways they did me a favor. Eleven years, hundreds of uploads, probably more than two million views, and a lot of it was just garbage. I wasn't ashamed to crank out some random experimental nonsense when I didn't have any good ideas, so that when the occasional good idea came, I'd be prepared. A lot of dumb videos, unoriginal videos, and outright theft has been wiped clean.
I returned to the Necromania because in order to ever be seen again outside of the You Tube algorithm, I'm going to need some help, and in order for people to want to help me, I'm going to have to tell them the story of why I'm not on YouTube. And the video is the story, "Banned from YouTube" has become my brand.

Boomer The Dog - 2022-11-06 I'd consider also posting to Bit Torrent. It's not that mainstream and a little harder to access, but people who are fans of odd video will make the extra effort, the chase is part of the excitement, and many are aware of tracking and don't want to have their interests followed as much.
You could probably get on a video rarities site and have them as a tracker and your seeding of your original work could go towards your ratio, if they allow it.
I'm glad that you're willing to follow your video passion and create. Most just watch videos passively, and it seems so many who create today are after money and fame.

It's wonderful to have 7or 8 people who really love what you do, and there were upward of 2000 subscribers on one channel, so there could have been more, but the 7 or 8 were enough to make it worthwhile. What I want is to be part of it, you know? Give something back.

I have it on good authority that private vids do fall under scrutiny as well. I'm guessing you've had three strikes?
They operate Youtube at a loss. Always have, and they'll never care. What they do care about is clean up of so many legitimately disgusting uploads of actual crimes, and not having any vibes of Liveleak, Worldstar, Documenting Reality, etc.
Either somebody reported you and a human janitor came in for a peek, or your content ticked one of the many automated boxes that are frankly impressive. It gets deeper but I'm pretty sure everything else I know is fairly NDA.
I'd say go to Vimeo, but if you aren't familiar they are doing purges and pivoting to a video hosting for corporations model. It's going to be hilarious watching them burn themselves to the ground.

yogarfield - 2022-11-07 So if you're not familiar, the newish CEO of Vimeo, Anjali Sud, gave a big speech a year or so ago.
To paraphrase: "Vimeo is not hipster Youtube anymore."
They are pivoting to solely being a platform for corporate video content. There's tons of filmmakers that had their work silently deleted if they swapped to the basic account and were over the 14gb limit.
To give an actual quote from their Q3 report a couple days ago: "We are executing a strategic evolution in our self-serve offering to better serve higher-value business users."
And in the news today, there's rumors they are about to fire a shit ton of people and also start live-streaming. So if you have anything on Vimeo that you don't have backed up, you might want to grab it before they delete it. Over the past couple years they have made it very clear that it is not a place for filmmakers.
