How often do you get to root for a snake?
Both of these animals make nice pets, but the praying mantis has the added advantage of people believing it's illegal to kill them.
When I was a kid I wanted to be a praying mantis because they're so badass.
I used to raise them in my backyard when I was in junior-high and high school. They're beautiful little kill-machines.
A praying mantis is about the only insect I will consistently root for in nature videos. Because they are completely awesome. And there's no swarms of them.
