Our Dumb Century's coverage of the 1980 Elections:
Jimmy Carter: "Let's Talk Better Mileage"
Ronald Reagan: "Kill the Bastards"
Which Message Will Resonate with Voters?

futurebot - 2008-08-07 I am so glad we have Jesus Christ, the Son of God and our lord and savior from sin and death, on our side in a presidential election. All praise to our omnipotent abstraction of divinity! And fuck our enemies!

"They take pride in being ignorant."
|
|
jangbones - 2008-08-06 Of course, but I swear to God I've been racking my brain but I think this is the first time a Democratic politician has had the guts to say the blindingly obvious.
No wonder the McCain campaign is trying to paint Obama as "outside the mainstream". From a cynical perspective, he is, in fact, outside the mainstream.
|
Camonk - 2008-08-06
And he did it all without sounding elitist. That's talent people. That's bantering we can believe in. I can't wait 'til this guy's our president.

I watched this very early in the morning and was pleased to discover it was not, in fact, a dream. This mornings wood is dedicated to Obama.

He's starting to look and sound like more than this country really deserves.
|
fatatty - 2008-08-06
I listened to this on the radio this morning through the Glenn Beck filter which consisted of him countering Obama's argument by comparing him to Jerry Seinfeld, questioning how improving efficiency can possibly help more than drilling for oil, saying the Republican's weren't lying (despite claiming this offhand tire remark is Obama's entire energy policy), then finishing off by saying Americans will never conserve by inflating tires and unplugging unused appliances because it "interferes with our way of life" and all but calling Americans lazy and careless. And I assume his audience took that as a compliment somehow.

Don't worry about the polls.
All that matters are the swing states.
The governors of Ohio and Pennsylvania will stump for Obama.
Michigan has been called a "swing state" though the odds of them going for McCain when he lacks endorsements from any major unions are unlikely.
McCain will probably take Florida.
Just because a bunch of Republicans are stupid because they just are and they do whatever the hell they're told and they like to scream and break things doesn't mean anything because among swing voters Obama will win.
He just will. Especially when you add all the Latinos and Blacks that have never bothered voting because they have felt so disenfranchised for the past however many years.
If you become a poll junkie like me you'll just get mad at the world.

Wow, Obama is leading in the polls in Missourri!
He will not carry Missourri, so who cares.
|
cognitivedissonance - 2008-08-06 I don't understand how Florida is a "swing state". It has a great big stamp that says "REPUBLICAN COUNTRY" on the maps they print now. Right undert "AMERICA'S FLOPPY COCK".
