God it must be awkward to be an elected representative of these people. You know your job is to represent them and act in their interest, but you also know they're insane.

Interesting how they love this country but hate democracy.

I was expecting her to be shouted down or otherwise ridiculed. But the whole place applauded her.
*shudder*
|
Bort - 2009-07-20 Most likely it was a deliberate show of force, and they had this rehearsed.

jangbones - 2009-07-20
If the Obama administration started this birther controversy, it was the most brilliant political move in history. His opponents cannot possibly be any more laughable.

Spit Spingola - 2009-07-20
God damn. I hate to think how bad this would be if we'd had a Hispanic president.
A conspiracy theorist friend of mine (he believes the 9/11 conspiracy theories too) told me that Obama's white mom flew to Kenya secretly to give birth to Obama and then flew back and faked a Hawaiian birth certificate. His presidency had been planned for a long time in advance by the NWO I guess.
|
Xenocide - 2009-07-20
Fun fact: Obama's grandfather served in WWII as well. He helped liberate one of the camps.
Had this been pointed out at the meeting, you'd have had a second of awkward silence while the birthers all contemplated this, then another second while they contemplated if they should boo, since that would be implicitly booing a veteran. And then they'd boo anyway.
|
phalsebob - 2009-07-20
I'm not American, so maybe I've missed some news, but hasn't Obama's birth certificate been produced about 800 times so far? How many times do they need to see it?
Not that I'm complaining. I hope they can keep up this level of tard whining for 8 solid years.
|
|
IrishWhiskey - 2009-07-20 If they had it in their own hands, they'd just dismiss it as fake. It would just be one more piece of evidence on top of all the other facts they're already ignoring.
|
Bort - 2009-07-20 They aren't interested in the letter of the law at all. They lost the election and are grasping for some way to un-lose it. No amount of evidence will ever suffice because they are seeing exactly what they want to see.
|
teethsalad - 2009-07-20 and they'd have to accept the fact that the majority of americans voted for his worldview and policies over theirs and that they're no longer the majority in this republic - conspiracy is the last refuge of their christian nationalist/reaganomic delusions
|
|
RomancingTrain - 2009-07-20
Why are they still arguing this point? If Obama was found ineligible to be president because he wasn't a natural born citizen McCain wouldn't magically become president. We'd have President Joe Biden and that's scary even to me.

But really, so this guy is a representative, so what? Is he supposed to march right up to the president and demand to see his birth certificate?
This makes as much sense as yelling at the door greeter at Wal Mart because your grapes were grown in Chile.

Y'see, the problem with conservatism is it's so full of conservatives.
|
Syd Midnight - 2009-07-21 It would be nice if we could do like the UK and split the right between the conservative capitalists and the violent nationalist racists. When you take the entire Right as a package, you gotta take these people.
