NO MULTIPLAYER NO TROPHIES LAST-GEN GRAPHICS BAD STORY: 1 OUT OF 10!

Adramelech - 2010-10-24

Here are your stars sir.

Evilhead - 2010-10-24

TOO MANY FETCH QUESTS WHAT IS THIS A CRAPPY ZELDA RIPOFF

VoilaIntruder - 2010-10-24

WHEN ORANGE DOT DIED AT THE END OF THE 7TH CHAPTER I SIERIOUSLY COUDLN'T STOP CRYING FOR TWO MONTHS

Longshot- - 2010-10-24

At least you don't have to grind for hours to gain a level.

StanleyPain - 2010-10-24

I remember reading somewhere that the multi-color freakout when you finish a level technically qualifies Adventure as the first video game with an actual "ending" as opposed to just cycling infinitely, kill-screening, or just stopping.

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-24

No one at Kotaku has played this game.

Riskbreaker - 2010-11-22

They're too busy pimpin kinect these days.

MrBuddy - 2010-10-24

I was expecting Venture http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA9Y-63-tss

poorwill - 2010-10-24

Venture is so much better than Adventure it makes me want to vomit. Adventure does have giant Amusing Ducks but that's all it has going for it.

il fiore bel - 2010-10-24

Don't forget Knubberrub.

Old_Zircon - 2010-10-24

Venture was the best.

Blue - 2010-10-24

I was hoping this would be the 1976 classic. You damn kids and your Ataris. I'm not pressing play on this tape.

OxygenThief - 2010-10-24

Like these stars, I am yours. (If you'll have me).

Meerkat - 2010-10-24

The difficulties are off. Weak.

Rudy - 2010-10-25

What's weak is it took him five tries to kill the green dragon.

Fucking newbies.

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2010-10-24

I actually own this thing on a retro-Atari deal someone gave me a while back. It's about as fun as watching this video.

Oscar Wildcat - 2010-10-24

Noob. I actually owned the real thing, and it kept us entertained for hours. Now get the hell off my lawn!

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2010-10-24

okay

boner - 2010-10-24

This was in COLOR?

Oscar Wildcat - 2010-10-24

Yes. And if you wanted more color, well you just cranked up the saturation control. And if you wanted different color, you turned the tint knob. What more could you ask for?

BTW, there was a superman game of the same vintage, where if you positioned clark kent and louis lane properly at the moment you won, they would merge into one hot tranny mess of pixels.

Bort - 2010-10-24

Superman was lots of stupid fun. The helicopter would drag Lois around by her head, like the Crazy Glue construction worker.

kingarthur - 2010-10-24

I remember this. When other kids had a Nintendo, I was using the neighbor kids second-hand Atari.

Old_Zircon - 2010-10-24

My parents' timing was off. they were late on the 2600 so when they finally broke down and got me an Atari it was a 7800, just in time for the NES to come out. Which I didn't get until a year after everyone I knew had beaten Zelda II.

Still got both of them in my music studio for bleeping purposes.

Doomstein - 2010-10-24

I remember playing this on Coleco Vision when I was about four years old. I had no idea what the game was about, or what the fuck I was supposed to do.

il fiore bel - 2010-10-24

I'm sure you did better than me. I spent the majority of the game trying to hide from the big angry "chicken."

memedumpster - 2010-10-24

Neither this nor Venture is the "RPG" I was addicted to on 2600 and have not known the name of since I was seven. It vexes me.

Bort - 2010-10-24

Dragonstomper?

FABIO - 2010-10-24

AD&D for Intellevision ruled.

fluffy - 2010-10-24

Wow, the corpses stay around forever! That's pretty advanced!

Cube - 2010-10-24

This is actually how life was, back in the year 2600.

Zarathustra00 - 2010-10-24

I still occasionally play Adventure, on an emulator these days since my atari died several years ago. The third difficulty setting can easily be as entertaining as most small flash games.

The bat in Adventure is the ficklest npc to this day.

Lies, lies, LIES! - 2010-10-27

Memories.

Repomancer - 2010-12-17

Dude botched. You take the bridge inside the black castle where there is a dark maze - only a small square of pixels "lit" around you. Drive around a while and you'll find an otherwise-inaccessible part of the maze, a small room you can get to with the bridge. Inside is a single color-cycling pixel you can pick up and take out (you don't see it at first, you just hear the sound of picking something up). Out in the main hallway, there is a white wall. Drop the dot on the wall. The wall starts color-cycling too, and you can walk through it to see what may be the first Easter egg in a videogame: "Programmed by Warren Robinette."
