jangbones - 2011-07-15 I imagine the following scenario; 1) the production staff comes up the strategy for trying to win back public favor over the crimes of their owner, 2) they build a loooong list of guests they could possibly ask to come on the show and repeat back the ludicrous party line they came up with, 3) some interns and PA's contacted everyone on the list, who of course said no, 4) they came up with a much sadder list

I stared laughing straight away, and didn't stop until the end with tears in my eyes:
"Look you honor, there was a 'rape scandal', it can't be denied, but the question is why are well all still making a big deal of it a whole two weeks later? Shouldn't we be moving beyond it and really deal with the issue of 'rape' in society? I mean people get raped all the time. It's a serious problem as I would know. Just leave me and my past rapes out of it.
I mean let's bear in mind this happened a while ago, in a whole different city, and I'm not raping them anymore. Why make such a big deal about things that happened in the past? I said I was sorry, yet for some reason people aren't letting it go.
Besides, what about all those people I raped? Why aren't they on trial here? They were participants in the rapes as well. And why aren't you picking on all those foreigners raping people instead? I mean Chinese foreigners, not Brits like me. Really, this has been wildly overblown. Let's just stop this trial before any sentencing happens, so we can all move on with our lives and start going after all those nasty rapists who aren't me."

My favorite part is how long it took them to contrive this angle. The story broke, we've watched it grow progressively worse for everybody involved, and now they brought in this guy to say "hey stop thinking about it"
Spin at its finest.
