I don't get Dave's joke at the beginning. Suing Subway?
|
Jet Bin Fever - 2013-05-12 Its a topical joke about some people that were threatening to sue subway because their "footlongs" were not exactly 12 inches long.

I love David Byrne and Annie Clark, but this album was less a collaboration than a series of songs by each of them individually. It is pretty clear by the lyrics and instrumentation who wrote each of the songs. I still like the album a lot though, despite the creepy ass art on the front.
Oh, and I was lucky enough to meet Annie Clark a few years ago at a Moog event they had in town. She was incredibly friendly and sweet. She's absolutely gorgeous in person as well.

That guy - 2013-05-12 I don't doubt that.

That guy - 2013-05-15 I met him about 8 years ago at a book signing, and there was no one else there at the time. He was friendly enough but I didn't really try to engage him in serious conversation, because I have some pity for famous people I like. They've probably been through so much grief with fans and anti-fans.

I was pretty underwhelmed by David's "Look into the eyeball" promo mp3 that was shipped, with I think windows 98 or XP, which ever. I lost interest until I discovered St Vincent.
Man does this set up feel like a refreshed Talking Heads. Love it.

That guy - 2013-05-15 Hmm, I think that was Windows XP, and only one song. It wasn't a great song. He's done several albums before that and since. They have many great songs.
Love This Giant is hit and miss.

Couldn't get this out of the hopper a while back, glad to see it made it. Wicked awesome horn section.

I dont like who he's paired up with. I feel like it's going in the opposite direction than the talking heads.

That guy - 2013-05-15 Please let this be a joke that I don't quite understand.
I'm not defending this album as a whole, but this song is fantastic, no?
Also what does "opposite direction than talking heads" mean, like 22 years after they broke up??!?
