I'm not really sure where to start. I was working on a documentary as an intern and the producer squeezed a bunch of free work out of me by getting me in on this Mingus project.
Charles Mingus III is an eccentric artist and engineer. He wanted to make a lecture series tv show radio show website app that conveyed every idea he had about the human condition and technology and politics and racial issues at any time he felt like it.
Basically I would go up there and sit in his sweltering apartment for several hours writing down whatever the fuck he said. I still have the notebooks somewhere I think.
I hope I do! I've moved so much I have no idea what I have and what I don't have.
Here's a fairly good artistic representation of what it was like to have a conversation with this man, form his website:

All in all he seemed like a good guy but with no ability to focus his ideas into a proposal that could garner professional interest and funding. The above website has been radically redesigned from the last time I saw it. It used to look like a melting geocities site.
