I watched a bit of season 1. The 1st episode was *absolutely fantastic*, the next 3 or 4 were dumb as shit, then I stopped.

The 1st episode involved an interesting contemporary scenario, in the politics, media, punditry area of things. The others were attempts at full blown sci-fi. The writer(s) obviously cannot write sci-fi to save his/her/their life.

So I'd definitely recommend watching 1st esisode of season one and then no more.

It's not for everybody. I tried to get my wife into it and she hated the first episode. I liked most of the first couple of seasons.

How badly do you need a fix of Twlight Zone-style, often satirical, examinations of modern life?

For me the answer is every day, and I will take the good, bad and indifferent episodes all together. I'll take a crap episode of this trying to do something good over most fucking shit.

If a show tries do to something somewhat ambitious say, but fails, and end up being bad, then its still bad.

On the other hand something like Aqua teen Hunger force succeeds incredibly well at what it is trying to do and is very entertaining.

Black Mirror is frustrating to watch cus its obviously trying to be intelligent, thought provoking sci-fi. But every 2 minutes theres something egregiously illogical or stupid or nonsensical. So it cannot be enjoyed on those levels.

As another example, a murder mystery book *needs* a logical mystery for the reader to be able to postulate about. If the whole thing turns out to be nonsense then it sours the entire experience and the reader feels cheated.

Black Mirror ranges from really good to fun and stupid. That's a winner in my book.

It looks like Ol' Nutflix is getting some quality new stuff, but there was a dry period where I pretty much continued to pay 10.99/mo just to watch "San Junipero" over and over again.
