Cheers sucks. How the fuck did that show get so popular

I was just bringing up Cheers at work this week.

We've had to scroll past countless articles describing what GENIUS Friends and Chandler were. For some reason, Friends is insanely popular with the age 13-22 demo. I see countless high school and college kids with Friends t-shirts, a show that ended before or when they were barely born. The equivalent would be our generation running around in M*A*S*H and Cheers t-shirts as teens, which nobody did.

But Cheers is just as badly aged and obsolete as Friends. We live in the golden age of episodic television. Why are people still turning to awful laugh track sitcoms? I can understand set in their way Boomers, but young adults?

and just to make you feel really old, remember when Nick at Night's old timey TV lineup was Mr. Ed, Bewitched, Donna Reed, Doby Gillis, Dennis the Menace, and My Three Sons?
