At least they went with it. Even if they weren't really going anywhere.

As spine-churningly awkward as this interview is, it's far more interesting than 99% of other conversations in talk shows where you can follow the bouncing ball of the actor's terrible anecdotes about Traveling To A Foreign Country or Interacting With [my] Infant Child. Plus, William Shatner is a lot quicker than I would have guessed. Someone should give him a crappy daytime talk show.

It's basically as though Shatner were interviewing Roseanne and doing about as good a job as can be done.

Shatner has been doing crazy interviews for decades. I used to have a tape of him on the old Jerry Lewis talk-show (yes, it existed) where he and Jerry were trading "directing" stories. "Jerry you've directed your movies, and I, of course, have directed episodes of T.J. Hooker.

This is *nothing* compared to that.

her sitcom was a staple of my childhood and it still makes me laugh. in her current..state though, I'd love to know who thought a talk show would be a good idea

I've always wondered what celebrity it would take to make Shatner come off as rational and in control. Apparently, it's Roseanne.

Shatner is way funnier han Roseanne. In fact, het set decoration is funnier than her.

Shatner: "Jesus GOD this woman is offensive. Maybe I can lighten this up and make it watchable."

So, this show was created inside of an alternate universe where there are no focus groups, network executives, ratings commissions, or talent agents.
