Nah, I think Mark loves it still. He's clearly having fun up there. But he's 65 years old, he's been doing this shit since 1977, and he saw how when Carrie died every newspaper ran the same 40-year-old picture of Princess Leia. So at some point I think you go, "well, this thing's gonna define my existence no matter what I do, which means I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT."
(except reveal spoilers about Episode 8 or Disney will torture his grandkids)

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2017-04-16 Hamill was a live-action and voiceover actor for years prior to Star Wars. Even if he's going to be Luke Skywalker until he dies, he's been playing villains at least since the CBS-era Flash. One day you voice the human friend of a genie, the next you're the son of a widowed Texan. Anyone in the William Shatner/Adam West zone should reasonably expect to take events like this in stride.

It's dehumanizing, but he's never not signed a paycheck. We're all prostitutes at some level.

infinite zest - 2017-04-18 I dunno, while it's arguable whether or not Hamill would've had a successful acting career without Star Wars (he was already doing voice acting for both mainstream and Bakshi animation) he certainly wouldn't have had the funds, and it wouldn't have been until the mid-90s when voice actors began to have leverage over the studio, a-la The Simpsons. With the exception of canonically non-voice actors lending their celebrity voice, Hamill was probably the biggest draw, a name one could associate with in-person celebrity actor status, even though he mostly just wanted to do voice acting anyway, so everybody wins. Hell, my student loans are worse than Hamill's obligations
