I was at least hoping it was a real commercial. I made it to 0:56. What's my prize?

memedumpster - 2014-09-02

Congratulations! You have 11 seconds less soul intact than I do.

jreid - 2014-09-03

1:25 and I couldn't take the shrug dance or that dudes weird mouth movements anymore.

The Mothership - 2014-09-02

You should have me write it next time.

There, proof that I watched the whole thing.

Mother_Puncher - 2014-09-02

It means you skipped to around the end.

The Mothership - 2014-09-02

Fuck you, this is awful. But after skipping around the youtubes for a bit I have a new appreciation for this band. Don't think I actually like them yet, but I've seen a couple songs - one of which I just put on 73q - that aren't bad. And these folks seem to be putting on a good show for their audience and making an effort. Yes, they aren't very good. However, they are trying hard, and they're not just hacks; they're not geeks off the street. Even cut-rate musicians get to be called musicians.

infinite zest - 2014-09-02

There's nothing wrong with the whole vaudeville revival thing. It's big in Cali I guess. I was playing a show in Los Angeles and there was a group similar to this. Sort of a steampunk vibe, and one of the best keyboard players I've ever seen. To be honest, it was a hard act to follow, given that we were just a three piece. But they also weren't annoying as all fuck.

infinite zest - 2014-09-02

Sorry mothership, I think I wrote that when you were writing your response, and yeah that's a really good song :)

The Mothership - 2014-09-02

I know! that Fire Fire song is really quite good, and the rest of their stuff seems to be so mediocre. It's a shame.

EvilHomer - 2014-09-03

I could live with the Daft Punk cover. This, this song is just garbage. Could you guys submit one of their better songs?

BlisteredButtress - 2014-09-02

WHAAT?

Maggot Brain - 2014-09-02

Crap, I went to school with these people.

infinite zest - 2014-09-02

Do tell! In a way they remind me of a sort of commercialized Black Heart Procession, also from the San Diego area. The difference was.. well it's hard to explain. Seeing them live was like being at some weird gothic, noir-ish beach party, or I guess like being in a David Lynch film on MDMA. The subculture really fascinates me.

Maggot Brain - 2014-09-02

There isn't much I can say on the matter. I used to see their flyers for shows everywhere on campus and my sister might of had a "thing" with one of guys in the band but that's about it. Around 2009/10 there were a bunch of bands doing more or less the same thing, it blows my mind that these guys are still around.

To keep this short theater people should stay out of music.

infinite zest - 2014-09-02

That was me in high school. I was in bands and the theatre people got the parts in musicals. Somehow it was very symbiotic.

kingarthur - 2014-09-02

I made it to around 38 seconds and stopped at red hair handlebar mustache hipster.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-09-02

#NotAllSteamPowered

fluffy - 2014-09-03

that was excruciating

also if they're supposed to be steampunk why do they have cellphones and roombas

Xenocide - 2014-09-03

It's okay as long as the cellphones have giant gears and goggles stuck to them.

The New Meat - 2014-09-03

I didn't think I could hate something more than steampunk, but then I saw that guy's mustache.

Cena_mark - 2014-09-03

I hate steam punk too. They just arbitrarily stick gears and shit to old timey things. I was at dragoncon in Atlanta and there was a steam punk band there too.

EvilHomer - 2014-09-03

We need a new x-punk genre. Shake the cobwebs off and all that.

Flintstone-punk, maybe?

The New Meat - 2014-09-03

Adding "punk" to shit is for old people, the new hotness is "core."

Or perhaps "gender."

EvilHomer - 2014-09-03

Well, x-punk is not just a musical genre, it's a techno-retro-futurist-fashion statement as well. y-core tends to be just about the music.

I guess you could have, like, steamcore, or atomcore, or whatever; crunchier, djentier versions of said cyberpunk derivatives. But that wouldn't really be anything *new*, you'd just be taking the old tired steampunk aesthetic and polishing it to a sharper edge.

BHWW - 2014-09-03

The one with the sunglasses is slightly less intolerable than the other two, especially Mustache-bot, because you don't have to see him bugging his eyes out as part of his terrible mugging.

RomeoGunn - 2014-09-03

You know I heard some of their older stuff like Honeybee and it was actually pretty nice, a weird harmonic.... robot country? But this is truly awful, they should definitely stick to the country schtick.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-09-03

Well, I liked it. I watched it five times just to prove that it wouldn't ki

StanleyPain - 2014-09-03

I've never seen such a trainwreck of trying to be NERD CULTURE LOLZ RANDOM mixed with dumb subculture that tries to take itself way too seriously. I guess that's admirable on some level

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-09-03

I can't rate this. Just fucking make it go away.

misterbuns - 2014-09-04

This is one of the worst things I have seen on this site.
