with a name like Chris LeChris i was expecting one of them old fangled fee-male impersonators! The Seeds are far out.

poorwill - 2014-12-07

She can't dance for beans but who cares?

ashtar. - 2014-12-07

Yeah, but what a tomato! Yowza!

That guy - 2014-12-08

That guy - 2014-12-09

standing, sitting, walking, she's a 9

EvilHomer - 2014-12-07

Irving Klaw tag? Do we have an Irving Klaw tag?

Old_Zircon - 2014-12-07

Oh yeah why on earth did I neglect that?

ashtar. - 2014-12-07

This is nice.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-12-08

Okay, she's cute and all, but Hell's Bells, that was BETTIE FREAKING PAGE with the title card! It's like Mick Jagger introducing the Bay City Rollers.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-08

No, that is Miss Better Page. She is a redhead Bettie Page lookalike wearing a Bettie Page wig, who pretends to be Bettie Page but is totally a different model for realsies.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-08

Also, this clip was taken from one of Irving Klaw's films, Teaserama I think. Bettie was famous, but at that point she was more of a first-among-equals, like Nikki Sims was to the millenial softcore porn scene, rather than the divine legendary symbol of 1950s masturbatory culture that we know her as today.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-12-08

It's true that when Teaserama was released in 1955, top billing went to Tempest Storm, who is something of a Burlesque legend herself. It looks to me like Burlesque was a sideline for Bettie, who was better known as a pinup and fetish model.

Like Ed Wood's Necromania and a bunch of other stuff, Teaserama was thought to be lost before resurfacing in the nineties when the appreciation of vintage weirdness became established as a thing, and Mike Vraney was bringing Something Weird Video to the mainstream. By that time, Bettie Page had became the selling point. She dances in one or two numbers, the only color footage of Bettie, at least at the time.

Before Teaserama was rediscovered, , the only footage of Bettie Page dancing was abysmal prints from black and white Irving Klaw loops that were very nearly wiped out, by the government if you believe the Bettie Page biopic. The high-quality color scenes of Teaserama have supplanted the washed out, barely watchable, loops in the public memory, but the loops are still my favorite. The grainy-ghostly quality only adds to the mystique, and Bettie seems more natural and comfortable. These scenes weren't shot on a stage, they were shot in a room somewhere. whatever inner rhythm Betty was dancing to (THERE WAS NO MUSIC), it goes way better than this with old rock and roll. Somewhere on youtube is a video I made of Bettie dancing to the Rolling Stones. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Boxxy turned out to be a Bettie Page fan. This is one of those things that surprises you at first, then makes perfect sense. In the 2012 birthday video, she is sporting the famous bangs. She once posted that she has a book with "every picture of Bettie Page ever taken". In the name of all that is good and decent, I hope not!

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-12-08

The Bettie Page- Rolling Stones video in the hopper is not the one assembled my me. Dug up something else, but this is at least as good, and it's the same basic idea.

I've been to a party where a combination of Bettie Page Loops, Get Yer YA YAs out, and marijuana has gotten everybody dancing at once. It was transcendent.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-08

>> She once posted that she has a book with "every picture of Bettie Page ever taken".

HA! Really? I think I have that one! Or rather, my dad had that one. If it's the one I'm thinking of, it also includes her various vintage comic strips and pinup toons, like Eneg's "Sorority Girls" strips. The "Better Page" thing I was referencing above is an inside joke taken from that book; I'd link the original source (it's SFW, as long as your work is OK with drawings of chicks wearing grandma bras) but I can't seem to find any trace of it online.

God, Boxxy is so hot.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-08

What's her favorite Bettie archetype? Bondage damsel, dominatrix, jungle girl, all of the above?

That guy - 2014-12-08

I just looked up Nikki Sims.
This person was a model because of why?

EvilHomer - 2014-12-08

Because of large tits and being 19. She was all over the internet back in 2000-whateverish, basically launching the whole non-nude/ softcore girl scene that later degenerated into Reddit's notorious jailbait clubs.

That guy - 2014-12-08

She was popular for being NON-nude??

I just typed "model" into google images. Every last model blew her away.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-08

She was hot! She still is, although now she's in her 30s and some of the magic has gone. She's mostly in it on the business side of things now, AFAIK.

It's weird, though. There were a lot of parallels there - Phil Flash and Irving Klaw, Tiffany Teen and Tempest Storm, Nikki and Bettie - only the modern reinvention of burlesque (as opposed to the psychobilly-fueled burlesque-revival, which was a totally different monster) was, if anything, even LESS risque than it's 50s counterpart; e.g. no bondage, no ballgags, no spankings! There's still (softcare) scenes for all that - from neotraditional Bettie-ites like Masuimi Max, to cosplay girls like Bianca Beauchamp, to all the various seminude peril, superheroine, and light bondage models out there - but it's strange to think how now, girls like Miss Page and Miss LaChris are remembered for their relative *innocence*, not for the total scandals they were back then.

That guy - 2014-12-08

Dial back from developing a theory that connects Sims to burlesque history. Please man. So she pushes your buttons somehow. We've all been there, we've all made the odd choice.

She's not a talent or a looker. I'm trying to save you from yourself, here, Evil Homie.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-12-08

>>What's her favorite Bettie archetype? Bondage damsel, dominatrix, jungle girl, all of the above?

I've pretty much told you all i know.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-12-08

Well, there's also this video, one of my favs, where she rages against hairdressers who don't know who Bettie Page is, or what her hair looked like.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-08

Bettie Page and a Fluttershy calendar. Thanks, Mr Holmes!
