Is anyone else having trouble falling the plot, or is it just me?

MagickPoultry - 2015-06-21

Is this a holodeck program? Would the holodeck be capable of making a functional ice-skating rink?

gravelstudios - 2015-06-23

If it can make women with functional vaginas for Riker, why not?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-06-21

I think they should have done the episode where whatever the fuck Armus was kills Tasha Yar after Data drunkenly does her.

That or Part VI the Undiscovered Country where Kirk makes out with a shapeshifter on Rura Pente as long as we're going with an ice theme.

holy shit, this

https://youtu.be/hi2HO5e_oeM

Star Trek: Borg the interactive game with Q! From 1996, I can't believe there is something Star Trek from the cannon that I haven't seen!

kingarthur - 2015-06-21

Some thoughts cross my mind:

1. Finally! Something so terrible not even a washed up Trek actor will star in it!

2. This can't be officially licensed. Can Paramount retroactively sue?

3. Why are they on the Death Star?

4. Where is this "King's Island" located and is it a town so bereft of cheer and entertainment that people are actively "ooohin and aaahing" this thing?

kingarthur - 2015-06-21

Cursory research has shown me that, horror of horrors, it was an officially licensed show... part of some "Paramount On Ice" routine in 1992 at the aforementioned joyless amusement park in what turns out to be Mason, OH. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=np6jJ7CaLJc

Don't you slander King's Island. It's a pretty good amusement park if you live in Dayton, Columbus, or Cincinnati and don't want to drive all the way up to Cedar Point.

When I was a kid we'd visit the grandparents in Wisconsin and go to Noah's Ark in the Wisconsin Dells.. last time I checked Noah's Ark and Mt. Olympus were both Largest Waterpark in the Midwest; does King's Island have proof of this ?

And even today one of my favorite things to do in the summer is go to Enchanted Forest in Kaiser Oregon and eat some mushrooms. You get to step out of a haunted house and there's abraham lincoln! And as far as culture goes, when I was in London the only show that wasn't completely sold out (but almost packed) was Starlight Express, a musical about anthropomorphic trains on rollerskates doing backflips and such and that was right in the middle of West End and it kicked ass!

But the needs of the many do not include space hockey rinks

garcet71283 - 2015-06-22

I was too young to remember or care, but is it just me or was there a period in the late 80s / early 90s when Paramont thought they could turn Star Trek into a big multi-media franchise ala Star Wars?

infinite zest - 2015-06-22

It appears to be so, but I was a little young too. When I was a kid Star Trek was the boring one your Dad liked, mostly because it was so dialogue driven, full of philosophy and other things an 8 year old wouldn't like or care about. So now it's great whereas Star Wars is pretty poorly written when you break it all down; I guess it's kind of like trying to get kids into Dr. Who.

mouser - 2015-06-22

All ST:TNG episodes where shot on 35mm film because they wanted to preserve the transfer quality. I think they had long aspiration for the series.

But yeah, that set is from SW:ROTJ. They probably recycled the rink from another show.

Back to the skaters.

An entire life of dedication and practice to culminate into this, after a shitty regional competition.

Stay in school.

chumbucket - 2015-06-22

I have to believe when on puts a franchise "on ice" you do what TV terms as "jump the shark".

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-06-22

Disappointed that it's TNG instead of TOS. If I can't see Spock on skates, what's the point?
