I don't how much energy I want to invest in defending SNL, but Rudy is supposed to have farted audibly twice during that hearing. How could they not reference that? It would have.been the comedy equivalent of malpractice.

And as satire, SNL's take makes the valid point that Rudy's hearings are insane, with tales of alien abduction, ballots being eaten, and the "My Pillow" guy.

But its true that the Mellissa Carone testimony "defies parody". You just cant top it, though we should expect to see it attempted many times, including in the nextra installment of the Scary Movie franchise. This is the new "Leave Britney Alone!"

What you say about this defying parody is right enough. My complaint is that the SNL version was way more boring than the original "performance."

Picking on SNL is like making fun of a short kid on a basketball court, though. Of course they plucked the lowest-hanging fruit.

I think SNL would do better sometimes just playing it straight; do a mocking by verbatim saying what was said without overacting and without gags.

She just got off probation for sending sex tapes of herself and her ex to her ex's current girl friend. So maybe that's the kind of wild that turns you on.
