Looks like ryu caught a touch of the downs, there.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-11-24

Maybe it's just that all the blows to the head are starting to add up.

StanleyPain - 2008-11-24

Just as a commentary on what a dick move this was on Capcom's part:

When SFII was originally released on XBL, everyone was obviously very excited for it. When it was released, it instantly became the best selling XBL title up to that point, and is probably still in the top 5 in terms of all-time sales. Unfortunately, after people bought they game, they discovered that the online was complete shit. If you were lucky enough to actually get into a match, you found lag and the usual shit lobby controls (or lack of them, I should say). As it turned out, players could simply log out if the fight was going against them with no penalty, thus keeping their rank, so basically all you got online were endless loads of people who wouldn't finish any battle if you landed any decent combos or won even one round.
Also, the game, rather than being an emulated version of the arcade ROM or the SNES version (pretty much regarded as the best home version), it was a port of one of the CD versions of the game, so it actually had the same load times as those versions.
So instead of fixing it, it was "OH HEY, SFII HD IS COMING EVENTUALLY SUCKERS, THANKS FOR THE MONEY"

RomancingTrain - 2008-11-24

Then why five stars?

StanleyPain - 2008-11-24

Because it is 5 star evil.
Also, it's pretty funny how this game has this weird bent towards fighting game autistics.

sosage - 2008-11-24

If you want even more history: they originally weren't going to do Hyper Fighting. The original plan for SF on XBLA was to do a port of World Warrior!?!?! Luckily a fan of the series was working with Capcom/Microsoft and convinced them to "at least do Hyper Fighting for fuck's sake".

Separate dick move concerning your netcode complaint: http://ggpo.net/ The netcode in this program is excellent. Almost as if you're playing with someone in the same room. The creator of ggpo offers to license this technology to Backbone for this release. Producer of STHD likes it and wants to use it. Capcom seems to like it and is willing to license it. Backbone says "Fuck all y'all" and decides to try and copy the tech instead.

Also: These stars are for Super Turbo, the best SF ever. I'm done being a nerd.

oogaBooga - 2008-11-24

Wait for what?

RomancingTrain - 2008-11-24

The racist caricature Chinese mailman?

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-11-24

One of the new characters is named Godot.

a flaming monkey - 2008-11-24

Xenocide - 2008-11-24

Wait for Fry to come back to the pizza place.

Xenocide - 2008-11-24

I win?

Well, it's about time!

DMKA - 2008-11-24

Deejay got blacker.

Also, I want this. I fail.

Sean Robinson - 2008-11-24

When meth finally drags me onto the stage, I'm going to use Joe Esposito's "You're the Best" as my stripper song.

All crane-style in a thong hoping that they tossin enough bills for dinner for my seven kids.

kingarthur - 2008-11-24

I would totally throw mad bills at a stripper who used "You're the Best" as their song. Even more if they used "The Touch".

IrishWhiskey - 2008-11-24

That game was easily my most regretted Xbox Live purchase, and I've got a few. Offline it was badly done, and Online was simply unplayable.

And it now keeps me from buying the good version. Because what's worse than buying a broken game, is buying the same game again less than a year later as an upgrade.

IrishWhiskey - 2008-11-24

Oops, meant as a reply to StanleyPain

Princess v2.1 - 2008-11-24
